Britain seals position as second biggest donor to Ukraine with fresh shipment of counter explosives
BRITAIN has sealed its position as the world’s second biggest donor to Ukraine with a fresh shipment of counter explosive supplies, the Government announces today.
More than 1,000 high-tech metal detectors and 100 bomb disarming kits have been given to help President Zelensky’s troops clear Russian landmines.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: “Russia’s use of landmines and targeting of civilian infrastructure underline the shocking cruelty of Putin’s invasion.
“This latest package of UK support will help Ukraine safely clear land and buildings as it reclaims its rightful territory.”
It is the latest batch of equipment sent to the warzone since Putin invaded Ukraine in February.
Since then the RAF has flown more than 240 flights to move thousands of tonnes of military aid from the UK
Only the US has given more to Ukraine, with the UK the most generous European country with £2.3billion of aid – which will be matched again next year.
