Ex of Adam Johnson’s sister accused of harassing paedo footballer’s child sex victim
Labourer faces court for allegedly targeting the girl and causing her 'alarm or distress'
THE ex of Adam Johnson’s sister Faye faces court accused of harassing the jailed player’s child sex victim.
Labourer Steven Knox, 30, allegedly caused the girl “alarm or distress”.
Former England star Johnson, 29, was put behind bars in March for six years for two counts of sexual activity with a child and grooming.
Knox, of Sunderland, allegedly targeted the girl, a 15-year-old at the time of the Johnson offences who is granted lifetime anonymity as a victim of child sex abuse.
Knox was granted conditional bail last week by Peterlee magistrates in Co Durham and will re-appear next Tuesday.
The court confirmed he faces a charge of conduct likely to “cause harassment, alarm or distress”.
Harassment Act offences carry a maximum six months’ jail.
Others are being investigated over abusive posts about the Johnson case and cops have warned against naming the victim on social media.
The former winger’s sister Faye, 23, was a leading figure in the Justice for Johnson crusade before his failed appeal earlier this year against conviction and his sentence length.
When the player was arrested in March 2015 he was on £60,000 a week with Sunderland.
