US Secretary of State John Kerry blasts Trump and Hillary for humiliating America during the presidential race in speech to British students

THE US Secretary of State John Kerry has admitted the race to the White House has become "downright embarrassing".

Speaking out at a Q&A with London city's mayor Sadiq Khan, John Kerry blasted the recent debates surrounding candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as "not focused on real issues".

Speaking to six-formers alongside Mayor Khan, Kerry said the election had been "out of any norm".

He said: "This election has been difficult for our country's perception abroad. There are moments when it is downright embarrassing."

He also added: "I could never imagine debates that were not focused on real issues",

The US election has been neck and neck since Hillary Clinton was again embroiled questions around her email usage.

A truckload of manure was even dumped in front of the Democrat Party headquarters as the election enters its final weeks.

The campaign has been dogged by debates over Trump's suitability to become the US President, with the billionaire caught up in a number of sexual abuse claims.

The US presidential election has been heating up for when Americans hit the polling booths next week with Donald Trump claiming Hillary Clinton;s plan for Syria would start World War Three.

Polls have previously had Donald Trump out in front - but that could all change.

The key for both candidates will be winning over the swing states.
