The site in South Carolina was previously used to produce nuclear weapon materials
A SUSPICIOUS item forced an evacuation of a nuclear reservation site.
The item, found in the area where millions of gallons of radioactive nuclear waste are kept, sparked an emergency response with the site cleared.
In a statement, the site said: "A security event is in progress that has triggered emergency response activities at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site."
But soon after, it was revealed the situation, which unfolded about 5pm in South Carolina, about 9pm in the UK, had been resolved.
It has been reported that the device was found in a restroom with fears it could be explosive.
