The 32-year-old today admitted he killed Lacey, 11, her brother John, 13, and their mum Terri Harris, 35

The monster stalked through the home, killing his innocent victims with a claw hammer before heading out to the shops.

He then returned home and callously called the police to tell them he had murdered four people - before meeting them outside the house to ask for a cigarette.

Footage has now been released of those chilling moments - and Criminology Professor David Wilson has pointed out clues that show he is evil.

1. Smiling

Prof Wilson said: “There's an element of narcissism. He thinks he's deserving of attention.

“He's somebody that thinks he can attract attention wherever he goes. He's very relieved at what he's done.

“He wants to be arrested. He wants people to notice him He's taken this awful course of action that's resulted in his former partner, her two children and one of her friends being murdered.”

2. Blood on hands

Prof Wilson explained: “He's not trying to hide it. It's about boasting.

“There's a lack of remorse. A lack of self-awareness about how appalling his behaviour has been.”

3. His strong stance

Bendall used Connie's phone to call 999.

The call was played in court, and Bendall can be heard saying: "I just need to report a crime.

"Basically I need the police and ambulance now because I just killed four people."

Prof Wilson said: “Bendall seems to have been almost eager to have contacted the police and to be bragging about what he had done.

“It's boastfulness, bragging. The eagerness to talk. He wanted to acknowledge - not for any remorseful reason - but he wanted to acknowledge what he had done.”

He also admitted to killing Lacey's pal Connie Gent - this is the last photo of them alive
