Halloween 2016 celebrated with Google Doodle ghost game

GOOGLE Doodle is celebrating Halloween with a new browser game to get you in the spooktacular spirit.

The search engine has created a magical academy filled with ghosts and ghouls ready to attack.

The latest Google Doodle is a Halloween special featuring a magic cat

It features a very special magic cat and the aim of the game is to defeat the ghosts using a series of ‘spells’ created by drawing shapes on screen with your mouse.

There are five levels to the game which take place in different locations within the magical academy; the school’s library, cafeteria, a classroom, the gym, and the roof.

The further you progress in the game, the more difficult it becomes to banish the ghouls as the string of symbols become more complicated to draw in quick succession.

How do I play the latest Google Doodle?

1. GO on to the Google home screen and click play.

2. YOU will see coloured symbols hovering above the ghosts’ heads.

3. THERE are six different shapes you must be able to draw, very quickly, in order to win the battle against the creepy creatures.

They are: A V and inverted V, horizontal and vertical lines, and lightning bolts.

4. FOR every ghost wiped out, points are scored in the game that stretches across five levels.

5. PLAYERS must also draw a heart to replenish their lives.

The game, which was thought up by Juliana Chen, is proving to be extremely popular with users who have described it as “addictive” and great for “procrastinating at work”.

warned: “But first a warning: this game is addicting.

“You may find yourself trapped in it for hours – time you could be spending today carving up defenseless pumpkins.”

Chen says the idea behind the game’s creation was inspired by her cat Momo.

She had originally thought of making a game about Momo making magic soup, but in the end opted for a wizard school instead.

The team behind the creation of this year’s Halloween Doodle said they were excited about the “process of dreaming up possibilities” in the game that could have featured an Eiffel Tower spell.

But instead they went for a short game against the clock that has proved to be a big hit.

A Google Doodle creator said: ‘This year’s Halloween Doodle follows freshman feline Momo on her mission to rescue her school of magic.

“The original concept for the game involved a magic cat making a soup that was so good, it raised the dead. Connecting soup to Halloween proved too abstract, so the team shifted to the idea of a wizard school.

“This opened the door to a more robust world filled with interesting characters and paw-some themes.”

This Google Doodle is the latest in a long run of fun changes made to the famous Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries and the lives of famous artists, pioneers and scientists.
