Girl deliberately pushed into frozen pond by boy just days before four killed in lake tragedy

A YOUNG girl was pushed into a frozen pond by a boy just days before four youngsters died in a lake tragedy.

The victim was walking with her sister on Friday afternoon when she was shoved into the icy water.

Thankfully she managed to escape the frozen pond and was later released from hospital.

Police launched a probe following the horror in East Park in Hull.

They have now identified the boy involved and confirmed they spoke to his parents.

Officers said a "resolution" has been reached between the girl's family and the teen.

The attack came just two days before four boys were rushed to hospital after falling into a frozen lake in Solihull, West Midlands.

Tragically, ten-year-old Jack Johnson and the other boys, aged six, eight and 11, couldn't be saved.

Police are now appealing for information following the "extremely dangerous and reckless act" in Hull.

Humberside Police Head of Special Ops Unit Supt Lee Edwards said: “With the recent tragic events where children have lost their lives in a frozen lake in Solihull I want to offer my sincere condolences to those parents who have lost their children in such tragic circumstances.

“I would also like to appeal to parents, guardians and children themselves, to please stay away from open water, especially frozen water. I share the advice of Humberside Fire and Rescue to stay away from frozen water.

"Bodies of water which freeze when the temperature hits zero and below may look like fun places to play, but can become dangerous for those who venture onto the ice.

"Lakes, ponds and certain stretches of rivers may look as if they will support the weight of people or animals, but sadly that is not always the case.

"The added hazards are the slippery banks and the ice-cold temperature of the water should an incident occur.’"
