Couple discover 5ft snake wrapped around their dog’s leg in back seat of their car while driving along the M5
The family fled from the car in terror after a child spotted the orange and white reptile
A FAMILY were left horrified after they discovered a 5ft-long SNAKE slithering through their brand new car as they travelled down the M5.
The family, travelling from a car dealership in Sheffield back to Bristol, fled the vehicle in terror after a child spotted the orange and white reptile wrapped around the dog's leg.
Unsurprisingly, police were shocked when they attended what they thought was a routine vehicle breakdown on the hard shoulder of the M5 in Worcestershire.
Experts identified the stowaway as a harmless corn snake - but couldn't capture it as it had disappeared into the "car's structure".
Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group revealed the family opted to continue their journey - instead of dismantling the vehicle to carry on with their journey.
They tweeted: "Most bizarre job for a long time.
"Officers attended a breakdown on the M5 in Worcs but it wasn't a breakdown.
"Occupants had found a SNAKE!!...Aaaargh.. we were as surprised as the family (and pet dog!!)
