AN FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails has been reopened after 1,000 new messages containing potentially "classified information" were discovered.
The emails were reportedly found on a shared laptop belonging to Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin and her disgraced ex-husband Anthony Weiner during a probe into claims that he sent lewd messages to a 15-year-old girl.
The reports that the FBI are once again investigating the presidential candidate's use of a private email server after it emerged the messages were "pertinent to the investigation".
It follows an announcement in July that no charges should be brought against the Democrat candidate following the scandal.
Hillary said she was “confident” the FBI would not find reason to recommend charges and it was “imperative” they explained their decision “without delay”.

She made the statement during a hastily organised press conference in Des Moines, Iowa, in which she said she did not know "what to believe".
She told journalists: “We are 11 days out from perhaps the most important election of our lifetimes. The American people deserve to get the full and complete facts immediately.”
Weiner, a former Congressman, is currently being investigated for sending lewd messages to a 15-year-old girl which included him sending her pictures of himself topless as well as asking the teen to get undressed and touch herself over Skype.
In a letter to members of Congress, FBI director James Comey today wrote: "In previous congressional testimony, I referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton's personal email server.
"Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony.
"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation.
"I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation."
The dramatic development comes just 11 days before the polls open for the presidential election.
The bombshell could potentially hit Mrs Clinton's current lead in the polls.
But this week her rival Republican Donald Trump has already been chipping away at her lead of only four points.
Speaking at a rally in New Hampshire this evening, Trump said the scandal surrounding Clinton's emails is "bigger than watergate".
He added: Hillary Clinton's corruption is on a scale we have never seen before.
"We must not let her take her criminal scheme into the Oval office.
"I have great respect for the fact that the FBI and Department of Justice are now willing to have the courage to right the horrible mistake that they made."
But at a rally in Iowa, Hilary failed to directly acknowledge that the FBI are to re-investigate her.
Instead she said: "We've got to keep our foot on the gas.
"Donald still believes he's going to win and he's right - anything can happen in an election.
We are confident this will not produce any conclusions different from the one the FBI reached in July.

"But we're not going to let that happen are we?
"How are we going to stop that? By voting and showing up with the biggest turnout in history."
Later the chairman of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign said the campaign was "confident" the FBI would not press charges.
He said: "The FBI Director owes it to the American people to immediately provide the full details of what he is now examining.
"We are confident this will not produce any conclusions different from the one the FBI reached in July."
In August Anthony Weiner was dumped by his wife for sending lewd pictures to another woman – with their baby lying next to him.
It followed two other sexting scandals in 2011 and 2013, pushing wife Huma to decide enough was enough.

The holed-up hacker — who has been stuck in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for five years — has said a “significant” release of papers will take place “related to the US electoral process“.
