Everybody’s saying the same thing about snow gritters as Brits shiver in -4C freeze
GRITTERS have been out in force today as Britain is hit with snow, fog and ice with temperatures plummeting to a freezing -4C.
People may be shivering but you can always rely on the British sense of humour to see the funny side of things – having a laugh at some of the names of the gritters.
The Met Office has warned people to take extra care on the roads and while out walking as temperatures are expected to drop to -10C in the coming days.
Gritters with hilarious names like Gritney Spears, Salt Disney and For Your Ice Only have been out in force providing an essential service keeping our roads open.
Interest in Transport Scotland’s gritters has shot up in recent years, partly due to their brilliant names and a website which allows you to .
People can keep track of the movements of Veruca Salt which has been out and about in Perth, Perthshire and Gangsta Granny Gritter which has been hitting the roads in Dingwall, Easter Ross.

James Bond puns seem particularly popular with five gritters in Scotland referencing the world famous fictional spy - Dr Snow, You Only Grit Ice, On Her Majesty’s Slippery Surface, TroonRaker and Coldfinger.
Famously, after a public vote in 2016, a research ship was nearly named Boaty McBoatface.
The names have now been keeping fans on social media amused with many on Twitter coming up with their own suggestions.
One wrote: “If I named one, I’d call it ‘Gritter Garbo’.”
Another suggested: “Hansel and Grit-all.”
While a third said: “Grittin' On The Jock All The Day.”
Everyone found it hilarious and one commentator summed things up with “This is wonderful, thanks for this!”
