I’m forced to sleep in my car with my kids as our council home is so disgusting – I spent £700 trying to clean it
A MUM claims she's been forced to sleep in her car with her kids because her council house is so disgusting.
Michelle Cowles slammed the local council for letting them move in to somewhere which had "faeces on the floor and walls".
She mutually exchanged homes in November but said when she arrived at the new property she found items and "illegal substances" had been left behind.
According to the mum-of-four, her family were left homeless when Bristol City Council "refused" to admit responsibility.
She told : "We were homeless for over a week because the council refused to admit they had any responsibility or liability and did absolutely nothing to help accommodate."
Moving in without seeing photographic evidence from the inspection, Michelle said she didn't know the property was in such a state.

Black mould was also found around the home and some windows were smashed.
The single mum said she spent more than £700 trying to make the house a better place to live.
Claiming she was forced to sort the mess out herself, the front garden is now full of everything she's cleared out - which includes sofas, mattresses and rubbish.
Michelle said the council are planning to inspect the property again in January.
She added: "The council have a duty to ensure the home and garden are safe and secure and this one isn't."
A Bristol City Council spokesperson said: “This case has now been escalated to Councillor Tom Renhard, Cabinet Member for Housing Delivery and Homes, and he has directed the service to urgently resolve this case.”
