Poundland recalls a raft of Halloween wigs and hairclips because they pose a FIRE risk

Store forced to withdraw costumes from sale just days before the big event

BUDGET retailer Poundland has had to recall three of its top selling Halloween costume accessories - because there's a risk they could burst into flames at any minute.

The popular discount store chain was forced to call back its Halloween wigs, witches hats and colourful clip in hair pieces after discovering they posed a fire risk.

Poundland has had to recall a range of its Halloween costume accessories

The business has discovered the Halloween and Celebration wigs "fall below our standards as they do not meet the Toy Safety flammability standard".

It means they pose a safety risk if exposed to naked flames.

The bright range of Halloween wigs have been on sale in stores since August and the Celebration wigs since March.

Poundland said anyone who has purchased one of these products (listed below) or has any concerns regarding any other wigs bought previously should return them to their local branch for a full refund.

A statement from the retailer added: "As a responsible retailer we take the testing and the standard of our products very seriously and remain committed to the highest levels of product quality and safety which is why we are taking this precautionary measure.
