Man stabbed in Portsmouth ‘after lashing out at seven-year old girl on her way home from Halloween party in a clown mask’
Nine-year-old girl was on her way back from party at community centre
A MAN has been stabbed after he lashed out at a nine-year-old girl who was apparently wearing a clown mask.
A witness said the girl was with her mum on her way home from a Halloween party at a local community centre at 8.30pm.
A resident in Edgbaston House tower block in the Somerstown area of Portsmouth said she heard the mum screaming the girl's name after the man is believed to have confronted her.
The witness said the mum ran off with her children but returned with two other men, following which the victim was stabbed.
Other residents said medics worked on the man in the garden area of the flats for more than an hour before he was taken off to Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth. His injuries were reported to be non life-threatening last night.
