Det Insp Hodgman said it was unusual that Melanie had not been active on social media.
She said: "Melanie hasn’t got her mobile phone with her, which is concerning for someone who is so active on social media, and we don’t think she has taken any provisions with her."
Police said the young woman was white, about 5ft 6ins tall, has blonde hair and is of a slim build.
She was last seen in the Mansfield area at about 11.20pm.
Police said that anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 858 of 21 October 2016.
