Woman police officer accused of having ‘inappropriate relationship’ with female rape victim

A MET Police officer has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a female rape victim she was assigned to help.
PC Charlotte Peters was based within the Met's Sexual Offences Exploitation Child Abuse Command when she is accused of becoming involved with the alleged victim in an ongoing rape investigation.
The 32-year-old has now faced court over the alleged relationship, with the woman said to have begun the "inappropriate" relationship during her duties.
Peters, who had been the Sexual Offences Investigative Team officer, was the victim's point of contact when dealing with the case.
But she was arrested on March 17 this year after a complaint was made.

She was investigated by the Professional Standards Investigations team after the complaint was made.
Peters has now been charged with misconduct in a public office.
She appeared on bail at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Emily Dummett, prosecuting, said: "She is charged with misconduct in a public office.
"The charge relates to the defendant engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a complainant who she met through the course of her duties."
Peters, of Luton, Bucks, is charged with wilfully and without reasonable excuse or justification misconducting herself in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public's trust in the office holder.
Judge Khalid Quereshi said: "This matter will now be sent to the Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing."
Peters was released on unconditional bail until the next hearing at Southwark Crown Court on November 23.
