Sun reader Christmas cards now on sale in Tesco to raise money for children with cancer
HUNDREDS of young Sun on Sunday readers got arty to join in our Xmas Cards For Kids contest - and these are the three winning entries now on sale in Tesco.
Their festive pictures have been turned into limited-edition Christmas cards and the proceeds from their sale will go to help buy presents for young cancer patients in hospital and raise money for charity Children With Cancer UK.
Takiera Headley’s beautiful robin drawing was admired by all the judges.
The 14-year-old from Shrewsbury, said: “I love drawing, one day I want to be an art therapist, so when I saw the competition I knew I wanted to enter. I really couldn’t believe it when I won. I was amazed and thrilled.
“I am so proud that my design is now on sale and the money from the sales will go to help children with cancer. I went into Tesco to see the cards when they went on sale.
“It was really strange but nice seeing it there with all the other cards. It feels strange to think people will decorate their homes with it this year.

“It is such a great cause. I hope loads of cards get sold and loads of presents get bought.
“I chose the robin because it is a symbol of good luck, happiness and rebirth. Mine is a jolly festive robin with a Santa hat. I have asked all my friends and family to buy them so they can help the charity and the children with cancer.”
Children with Cancer UK is dedicated to raising money for research and providing care for children with cancer and their families.
The aims of its research projects are to understand what causes children to get cancer and to develop improved treatments.

After the cards have been sold The Sun on Sunday will distribute presents — with the help of Father Christmas — to children having cancer treatment in hospitals across the country.
Our youngest winner was little Stanley Deamer, just four, who drew a picture of a Christmas tree surrounded by presents.
He decided to create his card because he wanted “people to smile, especially at Christmas’’, and said: “Everyone should love each other and be happy so I put extra kisses on it and hearts.”
When he was told his drawing of a Christmas tree was a winner he screamed with excitement.
His mum Zoe, 29, a hairdresser, said: “I’m beyond proud of Stanley. When I told him about The Sun on Sunday’s Christmas card competition in the summer and the fact it would help poorly boys and girls, he wanted to take part.
“He didn’t expect to win at all, we were both really shocked when we found out.
"He’s such a compassionate child, he always wants to help others in any way that he can.
"He’s always looking out for his friends at nursery, so being able to do something like this at Christmas means the world to him.
"He still can’t believe he’s won, it’s such a special time for him and I know he’ll remember it for ever.”
The cards went on sale last week and Zoe, from Dunmow, Essex, took Stanley to see his creation at their local Tesco.
He said: “It was brilliant to see it in the shop. I hope customers buy lots.”
Mia-Rose Hall, seven, from Harborne, Birmingham, was our third winner who drew a picture after when we launched the competition in August.
She said: “I was so happy and excited when I saw the cards in our supermarket, I couldn’t believe it.
“I told one of the ladies that worked there that I drew the picture and won the competition. She was so surprised and asked me if it was really me that designed it. I showed her my name on the back of the card and she said what a lovely picture it was.cde3
“I’m so proud and I’m so happy it’ll raise money for Children with Cancer. I’ve told my friends all about it so I hope everyone gets to Tesco and buys them.”
Suzanne Wright, Tesco community champion for Oldham Chadderton Superstore, was thrilled when the cards were displayed in her supermarket last week.
She said: “I’m really proud that we’ve partnered with The Sun on Sunday to support Children with Cancer UK.
"It’s great to see these Christmas cards in store, the colourful designs are a brilliant opportunity to spread some festive cheer, while raising awareness and much needed funds for childhood cancer research.”
Jo Elvin, CEO of Children with Cancer UK, said: “Thank you to all the children who sent in their designs and congratulations to the winners of the competition.
