Criminal Russian state must be defeated and shunned by civilised nations

An evil state

QUITE why Putin’s wretched lackey Sergey Lavrov has not been frogmarched from the G20 summit is beyond us.

Russia’s tinpot tyrant was too scared to show up himself. So he sent Lavrov to Bali to soak up the barbs of world leaders including Rishi Sunak.

How could they endure ANY presence from Moscow yesterday as its missiles rained down on Ukraine? 

Especially after a stray one reportedly killed two people over the border in Poland — a Nato member.

The Kremlin, knocked sideways by the uselessness of its overhyped army, is now resorting to cutting its neighbour’s power and destroying its cities.

Why even consider a peace negotiation with such monsters? They would never honour a deal anyway. 

This criminal state must be defeated and shunned by civilised nations.

Maybe then its people will take revenge on Putin for the ruin and shame his mad delusions have inflicted on them.

Border action

THE illegal landings of thousands of migrants are now a national emergency.

How can they be anything less when our borders are wide open, processing camps overrun and hotels block-booked for young men whose often bogus asylum claims cannot possibly be processed for the foreseeable future? 

When the bill for accommodation alone has topped £6million a day?

When 42,138 have arrived already this year (including 2,225 over Saturday, Sunday and Monday alone)? 

That’s the population of a decent-sized town all needing a bed and food — and only a minority of them real refugees.

If Rishi Sunak is serious about using emergency powers to set aside human rights laws and facilitate rapid deportations, good. Voters want tougher action.

 Trouble is, Labour wants the opposite.

Is Rishi ready for the Left’s howls of outrage — and the tsunami of legal claims their lawyers will unleash?

Easy, Jeremy

RECESSION is almost certainly here. Jeremy Hunt must not worsen matters tomorrow.

The aim of his Budget is, of course, to balance the books after the seismic shocks of Covid and Russia’s war.

Our fear is he overreacts to the brief Truss fiasco, most of it already reversed. 

That he hammers workers so hard — with tax already at a 70-year high — that he destroys jobs, businesses and growth.

There’s one tax cut that the Chancellor MUST keep. MPs praised The Sun yesterday for our Keep It Down campaign with FairFuelUK, which won a vital 5p a litre off petrol and diesel duty in March.

Scrapping that would punish drivers and hauliers, whose extra costs would trigger even higher prices for all.

You know it makes sense, Mr Hunt: 

Keep it down.
