Theresa May vows Brexit will not be thrown off course after Wallonia reject EU’s midnight ultimatum on Canada trade deal
PM stands defiant on UK's exit from the EU despite crazed socialist Europeans blocking key EU trade deal with Canada
THERESA May has insisted the Walloons blocking a major new EU-Canada free trade deal will not sabotage Brexit.
The PM spoke as the tiny Belgian region rejected a midnight ultimatum from Brussels to abandon their veto on the multi-billion pound tie up that took nine years to put together.
Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau was to sign the agreement at a summit Thursday.
But despite massive pressure heaped on them by Europe’s leaders, the Socialist chiefs of Wallonia are refusing to budge.
The stand-off is a deep embarrassment to the EU and has sparked fears about how the region could also hold Britain to ransom over its exit deal from the EU.

Mrs May told MPs yesterday: “I share everyone’s disappointment over the stalled talks between the EU and Canada.
“But to those who suggest that these difficulties have a bearing on our own future negotiations, I would remind them that we are not seeking to replicate any existing model that any other country has in relation to its trade with the European Union.
“We will be developing our own British model - a deal that is ambitious and bold for Britain.”
