Towie star Ferne McCann backing mums’ fight to ban Essex Girl from dictionary
Furious pair say 'county of women are pigeon-holed' by the derogatory definition and want to get the term removed
TWO mums are battling to ban the term Essex Girl and get it removed from dictionaries.
Natasha Sawkins, 34, and Juliet Thomas, 32, are hoping to sway editors over the “appalling stereotype”.
It comes after one dictionary defined a typical Essex Girl as being “unintelligent, materialistic, devoid of taste, and sexually promiscuous”.
The Essex pair said: “A county of women are pigeon-holed.”
They need a 5,000-name petition to approach Oxford English and Collins Dictionaries and so far have 3,000.
