Apple ‘FORGOT’ to celebrate 15th anniversary of the iPod

The tech giant seems to have forgotten to mark its most innovative product's anniversary

Apple appears to have forgotten to celebrate the iPod's 15th birthday.

On National iPod Day, the tech giant neglected to mention the anniversary of one of its most important releases.

Since the release of the iPod back in 2001, Apple have gone on to release seven generations of the music player, including the Mini, Nano, Touch and Shuffle.

The last iPod was released in 2015, with sales falling due to a huge number of consumers buying iPhones instead and also due to the number of online music streaming services such as Spotify.

However it is still undeniable the amazing effect the original iPod had on the world, with it becoming the first mainstream mass storage device to hit the market.

With later iterations allowing users the chance to watch TV and movies on the go.

Prior to the iPod there were a number of MP3 and portable digital music players, but none of them really hit the mainstream until the iPod.

The first one to be sold was the Saehan Information Systems' MPMan, which was released back in 1997 and were only capable of holding six or 12 songs at a time due to their minuscule level of storage.

Since then a number of music players came out, but none were really able to take over from the Sony Walkman up until the iPod's release in 2001.

While Apple may have forgotten the humble iPod, we certainly haven't.
