THIS is the moment a man accused of being a double murderer allegedly withdrew one of his victim's benefits to cover up the killing.

Mark Brown, 41, is charged with murdering mum-of-three Leah Ware, 33, at Little Bridge Farm in Hastings in May 2021.

He also allegedly killed single mother Alex Morgan, 34, who vanished on November 14 last year, and hid her body in an oil drum.

The builder murdered both women six months apart at the remote farm he rented then torched their bodies in a grisly plot to cover his tracks, jurors heard.

This included picking up prescriptions for Leah, whose body has never been found, from a Sainsbury's pharmacy, it was said.

In footage shown to jurors at Hove Crown Court, Brown can be seen walking through the store with his hood up.

He was also captured on CCTV allegedly withdrawing sums of up to £200 from her bank account at the supermarket.

The court was told Leah was still receiving benefits that were paid directly into her bank account.

Brown allegedly murdered Leah then texted a pal, saying: "Things I've done weigh heavily on my heart, in my head and soul, a psychopath with a conscience. It's a joke really."

Her disappearance came to light after police, who were searching for missing Alex, found a drug prescription for Leah in his work van, it is said.

Jurors heard both women worked as sex workers and met Brown through the adultwork.com website.

Leah had been staying at his farm in a shipping container before she disappeared on May 7, 2021.

The court was told Alex arranged to meet Brown at his home on Remembrance Sunday last year at 8am.

She was seen on CCTV driving up a track in her white Mini Cooper followed by a gold Jaguar, belonging to Brown.

Her worried family raised the alarm when she failed to return home but she was never seen alive again.

Forensic officers later found bone fragments and teeth belonging to Alex in an old oil drum at a building site where Brown had been working, it was said.
