Visitors CRUSHED as stairs in haunted house collapse at Tayto Park in Ireland
Guests told of their horror as the steps buckled, sending them crashing down
THE dramatic moment shocked visitors plunged through a collapsing staircase in a haunted house has been caught on camera.
Nine people were rushed to hospital after the staircase crumbled in the house of Horrors at the Tayto Park theme park in Co Meath on Saturday night.
One guest told : "We were there. All we heard was a loud bang and screams, we were the next to go in. It’s very sad hope everyone is ok.
Another added: "I witnessed it. It was shocking. My husband had to hold the stair rail up."
A third recounted the incident, saying: "Was there tonight, we were next group to enter the house of horrors- hope all are ok and no serious injuries- the staff handled the incident well, there was no sense of major panic, they closed the house immediately and they refunded everyone their €20 entry fee, all other rides were operating."
Others who witnessed the incident said they had been afraid the collapse could have had a much more serious outcome.
Two ambulance crews were called to the scene about 8pm.
Emergency crews treated those who had been involved in the incident at the scene, taking almost a dozen to hospital for treatment.

In a statement released on Sunday morning, Tayto Park said: "Last night (Saturday 22nd October) at approximately 8pm the lower portion of a permanent staircase leading to The House of Horrors gave way.
"The Tayto Park emergency plan was immediately put in place and the emergency services attended the scene. 9 people were transported to hospitals in the city as a precautionary measure to assess their injuries.
"The management of Tayto Park will co-operate fully with the investigation as the safety of our guests is paramount.
"Tayto Park will open today from 10am."
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
