TELLY hardman Ross Kemp yesterday launched a £1million Poppy fundraiser — that was saved by The Sun.
Posing with Seamus the Irish Guards wolfhound mascot, he encouraged Londoners to donate the huge sum in just 12 hours.
This year’s London Poppy Day — the biggest earner for the Royal British Legion appeal — faced the axe after rail union leaders refused to stop a strike.
But after we revealed RMT boss Mick Lynch told the charity to claim cash they lost from the Government, the union had a change of heart.
RBL ambassador Ross, 58, said: “It was the right decision to call off the strike.
“We’re hoping to raise £1million but sadly that will be spent very quickly.

“This year we have had a 20 per cent rise in veterans’ families asking for help with fuel and food bills. Already £3million has been spent.
“Also, the Legion has donated £10million this year helping veterans with their debts.”
Seamus and handler, Drummer Adam Walsh, were among those selling poppies at stations and offices in the capital.
Forces will join sellers at Gatwick airport today and in Manchester and Bristol tomorrow.
