A LITTLE girl whose father was killed by ISIS wept with joy and relief when rescued by Iraqi soldiers after three days without food or water.

Aysha, 10, has lived under the fearsome yoke of the terror group since her home Kafer, a village 18 miles from besieged Mosul, was occupied in 2014.

She was forced to watch the death cult murder her father, rob her mother and abduct children to become cannon fodder - or worse.

News TV cameras recorded the moment she told the troops: "I'm so thankful to you. I thought you would never come for us.

"We have had no food or water for three days and it was just me and my mother, my father was taken and killed by the terrorists."

'The IS (Islamic State) men have taken away so many children from my village and we don't know what happened to them. Some of them died,

The troops gave her food and water and took her and her mother to the nearby village of Qayyarah, reports .

The Iraqi government recently launched an offensive on Mosul, which had previously been a stronghold for ISIS.

Elite Iraqi troops have poured into the area to force out the jihad group in a long-anticipated offensive.

UN human rights chief Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein said he was concerned of reports that the Islamic State was using civilians as a buffer.

He said: “There is a grave danger that ISIL fighters will not only use such vulnerable people as human shields, but may opt to kill them rather than see them liberated.”

The UN has further raised concerns that the hundreds of thousands of people still trapped in Mosul may need to flee the city, sparking a humanitarian crisis.

But Iraqi forces last week committed to the “mother of all battles”, saying they would take back control of the ISIS stronghold.

The right to re-capture the city started just days ago, with the bloody fighting expected to last weeks, if not months.

The stronghold has been held by the Islamic State since ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared his Caliphate during a sermon there.

Civilians have already been killed when the Islamic State bombed a sulphur plant near Mosul earlier this week.

It is understood many others were injured as a result of the toxic smoke issuing from the destroyed plant.

Islamic State militants have launched a rocket and opened fire on an Iraqi convoy near a town that was recently retaken from IS as part of the offensive against militant-held Mosul.

The Iraqi special forces have also returned fire, with the battle highlighting the dangers still present in the area.
