My son left Brazil for a ‘better life’ – now he’s dead after gangland gun battle while working for Deliveroo
THE mum of the Deliveroo rider killed in a car chase said he came to the UK from Brazil for a “better life”.
Rosangela Messias da Silva said her son Guilherme, 21, left a year ago to follow his dreams but faced a life blighted by crime and money worries.
Guilherme lived in a grubby house share in London and was robbed twice — before his death on Sunday.
It was a far cry from the family horse farm where he was raised in Petrolina de Goias.
Mum Rosangela, 46, said she collapsed when she learned of her son’s death.
She said: “I went into despair. My heart is bleeding. Everything hurts.”

The nursing technician said Guilherme had struggled in the UK, adding: “I know that he suffered a lot there and wasn’t living the dreams he had.”
His bicycle had been stolen from his home then robbers pushed him off the motorbike he bought to replace it and stole that, so he had to buy another.
He had been saving up to move back to Brazil in December.
But he was killed instantly when his motorbike was struck in a car chase in Brixton, South London.
