Royal Mail to stage TWO 48-hour strikes around Black Friday & Cyber Monday in latest dispute
ROYAL Mail workers will stage two 48-hour strikes around Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Postal workers are continuing their dispute over pay, jobs and conditions, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) announced.
The walkouts will take place on 24, 25 and 30 November and 1 December.
The union said the latest offer included “more unacceptable changes” and the two-year pay offer was “derisory”.
However, Royal Mail said the offer was subject to agreeing to changes with Sunday working and start times.
The median pay at Royal Mail is £32,465 a year, with the average pay for a postal delivery worker lower than that at £25,777.
Royal Mail has blamed strike action for rising losses and job cuts, as well as lower volumes of parcels being posted.

Chief executive Simon Thompson said the company had reported losses of £219m in the first half of 2022, which demonstrated the “need for change at Royal Mail is urgent”.
It comes after industrial action planned by postal workers in the next two weeks was called off following a legal challenge.

Royal Mail lawyers had written to the Communication Workers Union highlighting their concerns over the formal notification of rolling industrial action.
The union said that following the letter, it had decided to withdraw action on six dates in the coming fortnight.
CWU acting deputy general secretary Andy Furey said: “We believe it is a necessary move to protect our dispute.”
