Mum, 24, hid vodka & laughing gas canisters before helping seriously injured pal after smashing BMW onto beach at 80mph

A MUM rushed to remove a vodka bottle from her BMW before helping an injured passenger after smashing into a beach at 80mph.

Macauly Boswell-Morgan, 24, also frantically attempted to hide laughing gas canisters following the horror crash.

Her terrified passengers had begged her to slow down as she raced through narrow lanes before smashing into a wall without hitting the brakes.

The car was catapulted through the air and nosedived down an embankment onto Pembroke beach below.

One passenger, Camran Quinn, was left trapped in the vehicle after suffering injuries to his head and spine.

But Boswell-Morgan was “more concerned” about removing the offending items from her car.

She has now avoided jail after Swansea Crown Court heard she was a primary carer for her son.

Boswell-Morgan, who pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, was instead handed a two year sentence suspended for two years.

The court was told she had been driving with two male pals in June last year when they reached a lane that comes to a dead end at a car park and down to the sea.

She suddenly accelerated to around 80mph as her friends begged her to slow down.

Boswell-Morgan then smashed into a low wall without making any attempt to swerve or stop.

The BMW travelled up to 32ft after it plunged down the embankment onto the pebble beach below.

Boswell-Morgan and her front seat passenger both escaped without injury.

But Mr Quinn had to be cut from the car and suffered four fractures to the skull, a bleed to the brain, multiple bone contusions and a fracture to the spine and fingers.

In a victim impact statement, he said: “I’m still suffering the effects of these injuries and will do for the foreseeable future.

“I’m fearful that these after-effects will be with me for years to come and I’ve been depressed to the point of staying in my room and avoiding others.

“At times I wish I had died.”

The court was told Boswell-Morgan had a small amount of cannabis in her system but it was below the legal limit of 2mcg.

As well as a suspended sentence, she was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and was banned from driving for two years.

Judge Paul Thomas said: “Had Mr Quinn been killed that day as opposed to seriously injured, your sentence would be at least seven years in prison.

“But one factor is more than any other in this case, and that’s the fact that you’re a primary carer for your son.”
