Music producer, 19, appears in court charged with stabbing Manchester student to death

A MUSIC producer has today appeared in court charged with stabbing a student to death.

Luke O'Connor, 19, was attacked as he returned home from a party in Manchester last Wednesday.

The teen, who was studying at Manchester Metropolitan University, was later declared dead in hospital.

Shiloh George Pottinger appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court today charged with murder.

He is also accused of possession of a bladed article.

The 19-year-old, who wore a grey tracksuit with a bandage on his hand, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court on November 2.

Pottinger is a music producer and artists who uses the stage name OSU.

He has more than 14,000 monthly listeners on his Spotify page after releasing song Let Me Know with DJ Jamezy.

His dad is also a musician known as MC DRS (Dirty Rap Scallion).

Police were scrambled to Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield, at around 2am on Wednesday.

Paramedics battled to save Luke after he was knifed in the student-heavy area.

He was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved.

Tributes have now flooded in for "gentle giant" Luke, who studied business management, following his death.

His family described him as "truly one of a kind, whose presence would light up any room".

They added: "Our hearts yearn for the loss of Luke, we are truly devastated by this tragedy.

"Luke was loved by so many people and he knew how much he was loved in return.

"He loved the freedom of student living and studying and was loving life in Manchester.

"Luke was the youngest of three boys in our family and was a gentle giant with big hopes and dreams for the future.

"His biggest dream was to travel the world, but now Luke will never be able to fulfil that dream."
