Rishi Sunak to stamp out ‘woke’ policing with plans to get more cops on the front line solving crime
RISHI Sunak wants to stamp out "woke" policing with plans to get more cops on the frontline, it's been revealed today.
The new PM had blasted police forces for "policing bad jokes on Twitter" instead of "fighting actual crime" during his summer leadership bid.
And now, Mr Sunak is said to want more cops on the front line "preventing and solving" crime on Brits' doorsteps, the reports.
Ministers are looking at the approach taken by Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Stephen Watson.
The chief earlier blasted "woke" policing, and claimed the public are "fed up of virtue-signalling police officers".
His "back-to-basics" approach - which put more bobbies on the beat - took GMP out of special measures in just 18 months.

A Government source told the Telegraph: "We want to get officers on to the front line doing what they are supposed to do which is preventing and solving crime.
"The chief constable of Greater Manchester has done a great job on that.
"We want to see what Greater Manchester have done replicated across other forces."
Earlier this year, Mr Sunak warned Brits that "police forces must be fully focused on fighting actual crime in people's neighbourhoods, and not policing bad jokes on Twitter".

An Opinium poll has found that Labour's lead - previously at 27 points - dropped to just 16 points in the past week.
