A TOURIST has sparked outrage after posing half-naked outside a sacred cathedral in Italy.

Using nothing but a flowing red veil to cover herself, the woman stunned early-rising locals on Monday morning with a risque display outside the historic site in Amalfi.

According to local media, the woman claimed she was aiming to create a “personal memory” with two other tourists after baring all to the passing public.

It came after footage emerged of the moment locals stopped their early morning errands to take in the x-rated spectacle at the top of the staircase.

The clip, which was taken from a residence from a nearby window, shows the woman striking seductive poses to the camera in front of a doorway depicting Jesus.

Meanwhile, another person thought to be an associate is shown walking around the woman as she poses, taking photos and filming the scene at the Sant'Andrea cathedral.

The raunchy photoshoot only came to an abrupt end when local authorities were called to the scene by concerned onlookers, local newspaper Il Mattino reported.

The outlet adds the woman, the cameraman and another known associate at the scene did not have local permission.

The trio were later reprimanded for “obscene acts in a public place” and were also warned against sharing the photographs on social media.

Unsurprisingly, the risque incident sparked outrage from conservative Italians who blasted the woman for her “scandalous” photoshoot at the religious site.

"Undressing badly in front of a cathedral of considerable importance [is] squalid and unacceptable ... shame," one person wrote on Facebook.

Another penned: "The scandalous thing is not the fact that she is doing a nude photo shoot, but that she has chosen the facade of a church as the location."

While a third questioned how the naughty trio had been allowed to carry out the photoshoot without authorisation.

The latest incident comes roughly a year after a string of influencers were arrested and jailed for staging x-rated photoshoots outside religious sites in Moscow.

Ruslan Bobiev, from Tajikistan, and his girlfriend Anastasia Chistova caused outrage after a photo appeared with her wearing a police jacket and simulating a sex act as she crouched in front of him.

The cathedral in Red Square, Moscow, is seen as a hugely popular cultural symbol as well as a sacred site by the Russian Orthodox church.

The pair were arrested by the authorities for 10 days and fined 5,000 rubles (£51) with the court also ordering Bobiev - real name Ruslani Talabjon - to be deported.

They were later charged with “insulting religious feelings.”

Bobiev and Chistova were found guilty by Moscow’s Tverskoy district court and both were sentenced to 10 months in a penal colony, according to the state-owned news agency .

Under the law, a maximum of a year’s jail time can be imposed.
