Tesla to make ALL its cars autonomous and self-driving by 2018
The electric car manufacturer has installed super computers in its new cars
Tesla are set to make all its cars self driving and autonomous.
The electric car manufacturer introduced its autopilot system last year and is expected to roll out a beefed up version amongst its entire range by 2018.
Tesla say all its cars will now include the hardware needed to become entirely autonomous.
The manufacturer is currently gathering data on when the technology would have caused or prevented a crash.
Telsa's founder Elon Musk said it was "basically a super-computer in a car", and that he hopes one day the technology will demonstrate that self-driving cars are safer than those driven by people.
Musk proposes that Tesla will be ready to roll out its fully autonomous cars by 2018, which would make it the first major manufacturer to mass-produce self-driving cars.
Other companies such as BMW and Ford have estimated they will be ready to release their autonomous cars in 2021.
The cars will be powered by a supercomputer and will receive data from eight cameras, offering the car a full 360 degree view around the vehicle.
While the law is currently unclear on who is responsible for an accident involving a self-driving car, Tesla will hope their autonomous car will prompt government officials around the world to make a decision on who will be to blame when a self-driving car inevitably crashes.
Tesla's Model S was recently named in the top 10 gizmos of all time by Channel 5's Gadget Show.
