Sickening photo shows MAGGOT in pasta meal served to Royal Navy sailor, sparking fury
A SAILOR has sparked an outcry by posting a picture of a maggot in his meal.
The image was branded “shocking” by a former senior officer who said good food was vital for troops’ morale.
The maggot, found in a plate of pasta, was said to have been served to a sailor based at HMS Nelson in Portsmouth.
Military catering is overseen by Sodexo which last year won a £54million contract despite facing repeated complaints over quality.
Three months ago, a soldier at Windsor Castle posted a video of a maggot on his plate.
Col Philip Ingram, a former military intelligence officer, said the latest incident needed investigating.

He added: “They say an army marches on its stomach.
“But what is being served now is shocking and the only marching will be to the door to leave.”
One social media user said of the maggot: “Probably got charged extra for it.”
The MoD said it was checking the photo was taken on HMS Nelson, adding: “We take this very seriously.”
