Legendary Sun photographer Arthur Edwards wins prestigious award for excellence in journalism
LEGENDARY Sun photographer Arthur Edwards MBE won another prestigious award last night.
Arthur, 82, was hailed “simply the best” by judges as he was named the London Press Club Journalists’ Laureate 2022, honouring excellence in journalism.
Arthur, our royal snapper since 1977, collected the accolade in front of a host of national newspaper editors and media executives past and present at the Grosvenor House hotel, Park Lane.
In a historic royal year, the judges said he was the stand-out candidate as he became only the fourth recipient of the award, after broadcaster Nick Ferrari, Eve Pollard and the Daily Mail’s Paul Dacre.
London Press Club Ball chairmen Robert Jobson and Ray Massey said: “Arthur is simply the best. In newspapers, to steal his phrase, ‘sometimes it’s words, sometimes it’s pictures’.
“Arthur is brilliant at both. His iconic images light up any newspaper page, and his sharp, wise commentary on our Royal Family, both for his newspaper and when he is broadcasting, is always right on the money.”
