The tourist's wife alerted the crew when she found her husband unconscious, and he was rushed to hospital by ambulance after landing.

Sadly, the man never regained his consciousness and was declared dead at Paphos General Hospital upon arrival.

“We can confirm that he passed away during the flight but at the moment there’s not much more we can say,” a police source is quoted as saying by Cyprus Mail.

The local newspaper reports that police are not considering anything suspicious or any criminal activity being involved.

Last month, a British mother suddenly passed away in front of her husband and children while on a flight back to the UK after living 15 years in Hong Kong.

Helen Rhodes was excitedly heading home with her family on August 5 for a "new adventure", when the midwife was found unresponsive after seemingly falling asleep a few hours into the long-haul flight.

Helen was unable to be resuscitated on board the aircraft.

She was cradled by her loved ones until the plane eventually landed in Frankfurt, Germany.

Although it was "extremely traumatising" for her family, they found comfort in the fact they could say their goodbyes to her.

The mum's body remained in the German city while her heartbroken husband and kids continued onto the UK.

The family had been living in Tung Chung, Hong Kong, for over a decade and were returning home to live in the UK.
