Facebook rolls out Messenger feature which will save you LOADS of cash
If you're on a restrictive data plan then this update is for you
IF you use Facebook Messenger and you have a limited mobile tariff this new feature will save you loads of cash.
The latest update allows you to finally save the amount of data you use by manually selecting the items that download to your phone.
It will also compress images to help reduce the amount of data used. So while this will help reduce your monthly bills, you shouldn't expect photos to look that amazing.
The update will now mean that once you receive any form of multimedia, whether it's a video, picture or voice recording, from another user the Data Saver will now ask you to tap-select each item to download them.
This will allow you to select what you want to download, and will also allow you to keep track of the data used via a little tracker within the app.
However the tracker does not allow you to see how much data you've used via WIFI, meaning if you're on a limited WIFI package you won't be able to see how much your phone is using.
The launch date isn't set as of yet, but if you're an Android user you can try out the beta version right now.
