Cops hunting missing sex offender warn he could be hiding out in Manchester

Francis Doherty, 63, is wanted for breaching the conditions of his licence

COPS hunting a missing sex offender have warned the public he could be hiding out in Manchester.

Francis Doherty, also known as Frank Doherty, also has links to east Lancashire.

The 63-year-old, who is on the sex offenders register, is wanted by police for breaching his licence conditions.

He was jailed for three years in 2005 after being convicted of two sexual assaults.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Stephen Munro said: “We are appealing for information as to Doherty’s whereabouts after he breached his licence conditions."

Det Sgt Munro continued: “From our enquiries we believe Doherty knows he is now wanted and could be hiding in the Greater Manchester area.

“It is possible Doherty could be begging but unknown where and he may be sleeping rough.

“Anyone with information which may assist our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”
