PHILEAS BOG

I’ve spent £150k visiting 100 countries to find the world’s worst public toilet – the winner is a real hellhole

A BRIT says he has found the world’s worst public toilet — after a 75,000-mile search.

Graham Askey, 58, has spent £150,000 visiting 100 countries in his hunt for the grossest bog.

And the travel writer’s vote goes to a “hellhole” shrouded by fabric which desperate occupants use as toilet roll.

The 5ft horror in Tajikistan has sun-dried poo on the floor, while snakes and rats lurk in nearby rocks.

Askey scoured the globe like adventurer Phileas Fogg, visiting hundreds of loos — and 36 of the “crappiest crappers” are in his new book, Toilets of the Wild Frontier.

One was a sink in Bangladesh while a bath in China was full “of number ones and twos”, with the plug left in.

Ex-builder Graham, right, of Brighton, said: “They’re the most inhospitable places on Earth, and to spend a single minute inside any of them would be unthinkable except in the direst of circumstances.

"Each and every one of them would appear to attract members of the public who have yet to master the basic art of 'aiming'

He photographed only the outside of the worst loos he visited to spare people the "vomit-inducing" contents.
