The teen died on Wednesday in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, after he was reportedly pinned to the ground and repeatedly knifed by a masked attacker.

A teacher frantically performed CPR in a bid to save the 15-year-old after he was attacked near the gates of North Huddersfield Trust School shortly before 3pm.

A 16-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

And now Khayri's girlfriend has revealed that he had been on his way home to change clothes and then meet her when he was attacked.

Shyana revealed that he rang her minutes before his death to say he was on his way to her and then sent a Snapchat message showing his location.

But her friend phoned her minutes later to say he had "been hurt and was bleeding".

The teen, Khayri's girlfriend of around six months, said she was at a loss to comprehend why the "senseless" killing took place.

Being comforted by her mother close to the murder scene, she said: "He was the best person ever. He would drop anything for you and he'd do absolutely anything for anyone.

"I spoke to him at 2.52 yesterday and he was saying he'd had a good day and couldn't wait to see me later.

"He was going home to get changed then he was going to come to mine.

"He was the love of my life. We were talking about our future the other day.

"He was just the best person I knew."

Her mum Sherrin, 35, said the pair were "literally inseparable", adding: "He was her first proper boyfriend. She absolutely adored him and he absolutely adored her."

Mum Marcia McLean was being comforted by family and friends at her semi-detached home in Bradley Boulevard, an eight-minute walk from where Khayri was stabbed.

Friends and classmates also paid tribute to Khayri, while his headteacher has released a statement following the tragedy.

Charley Burrows wrote on Facebook: "Stabbed in the street after school. Practically on our doorstep.

"I’ve no words. Just horrific. My thoughts and prayers go out to his mum and his family. Rest in Peace Khayri."
