Rolling Stones rocker Keith Richards ‘threatened to STAB Donald Trump’ … but billionaire presidential contender refuses to stop playing their music at rallies
Veteran guitarist 'pulled a knife' when he learned Trump was promoting sell-out Stones show in 1989
ROCK 'n' roll veteran Keith Richards once threatened to STAB Donald Trump over a bodged TV deal, according to a former tour manager.
The lead guitarist, 72, lashed out when he learned the billionaire was involved in promoting a Rolling Stones gig that would be shown on pay-per-view TV.
They banned the future presidential candidate from any involvement in their in the Atlantic City show of their 1989 Steel Wheels tour.
That's despite the televised gig being held at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.
Tour manager Michael Cohl had agreed a contract with Trump to host the sell-out show at his premises -- paying the band $3million -- as long as he had no part in promoting it.
But on the night of the gig Trump held a press conference associating himself with the Stones show.
According to Cohl, Trump said the press "begged him" to make an appearance, which Cohl said was a lie.
Richards then pulled out a knife in the band's dressing room, saying: "One of us is leaving the building – either him, or us", Cohl revealed at an event for music portal Pollstar last year.
A huge brawl nearly erupted when he demanded Trump leave, Cohl said, as "40 of the crew turned up with tire irons and hockey sticks and screwdrivers" to force him out.
Then Trump allegedly ranted: "You don’t know anything! Your guys suck! I promote Mike Tyson! I promote heavyweight fights", before leaving.
The band has spoken out against Trump's use of their music at his election rallies.
