THE moment Ched Evans snuck out of a hotel through a fire escape after having sex with a teenage waitress has been revealed in CCTV footage.

The footballer, who fought a five year battle to clear his name and wept after receiving the not guilty verdict at Cardiff Crown Court, was caught on camera leaving the hotel through the back entrance.

The former Wales and Manchester City forward had previously admitted to having sex with the teenager in a hotel in Rhyl, north Wales - but the court found him not guilty of rape.

In CCTV footage released after the case, the footballer can be seen leaving the Premier Inn after the sexual encounter in May 2011.

In the grainy footage, the 27-year-old can be seen keeping his head down as he leaves the hotel.

The 27-year-old admitted that he had cheated on his girlfriend but maintained that the sex with the teen had been consensual.

He told the court that after having sex with the woman he left through a fire exit door as he realised he was cheating on his girlfriend.

He said that the young woman had invited him to "join in" a 4am romp with a fellow footballer.

His defence, counsel Judy Khan QC told the court that Evans had answered all the questions asked of him by police, arguing that detectives would never have known about the case if he had not been honest.

While prosecutors argued that the complainant was too drunk to consent to having sex with the man, Evans told the retrial that the woman was no drunker than Evans or fellow footballer Clayton McDonald.

Evans was originally found guilty after a trial four years ago but the conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal.
