THE moment a vicious driver intentionally reverses into two men, bowling them over like pins, has been captured on horrifying CCTV footage.
The driver, Mohammad Abdullah, can be seen driving into the two men, one of whom was walking with a stick, after the men started arguing.
The driver has now been jailed for six years after his victims, Mark Thompson and Kevin Morson, were intentionally struck following a disagreement with Abdullah after he had narrowly avoided colliding with the two men.
The video shows the 30-year-old driver approaching both complainants in his car and only just avoiding the pair, who were crossing the road after a night out, as he drove towards a red light.
Grimsbey Crown Court then heard that the men started arguing.
Prosecutor Jeremy Evans told the court: "Abduallah approached both complainants at speed, making no attempt to brake until the very last moment, when he swerved past them at close proximity."
A verbal altercation then ensued between the victims and the occupants and the video shows Mr Thompson and Mr Morson approaching the car and those inside began to open the doors.
Mr Evans went on to describe how Abdullah "intentionally reversed his car, positioned it at an angle that faced directly at the complainants, who were only a short distance away; then, without warning, he proceeded to accelerate at speed towards both men."
He said: "They didn't stand a chance.
"They were mowed down. Both collided with the front of the defendant's car and both were left injured on the roadside."
In the video, Abdullah can be seen driving after after hitting the men, leaving them in agony on the side of the road.
Abdullah, from Grimsby, admitted two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, following the incident in the early hours of April 14.
Speaking after the hearing, Detective Sergeant Dharm Chatha welcomed the sentence.
He said: "This was a particularly nasty incident, which left both victims with life changing injuries.
"Hopefully, knowing that the man responsible is now behind bars and paying the penalty for his actions will allow them to put this behind them and move on with their lives."
