Sony reveals Playstation games will be coming to your iPhone VERY soon

Classics such as Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Wipeout, and Unchartered could all be heading for your smartphone

GAMING giant Sony are set to release five Playstation titles for your smartphone over the next 18 months.

The games will be based on well-known Playstation characters and other intellectual property, but it has not been revealed which titles are due to arrive.

Games such as Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, and Gran Turismo are all in the frame.

The titles will be available on the Asian market first,

Sony announced a new division in March called ForwardWorks, which was specifically designed to produce new smartphone titles for both iOS and Android platforms.

In 2012 the firm launched Playstation Mobile to allow owners of certified phones, such as those in the Sony Xperia range, to download a selection of classic titles.

The idea flopped because smartphone owners simply weren't that interested.

The Playstation Vita handheld console which supported Playstation Mobile games also failed.

Sony's latest move comes after rival Nintendo entered the smartphone sector with Miitomo in March an later augemented reality game Pokemon Go.

Nintendo has resisted joining the smartphone sector for several years, but has now said Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem will also soon be available.

Sony's Playstation 4 leads by far in the console market with sales of over 40million.
