Three of the Queen’s four children – Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward have all been at Balmoral since Thursday.

They were joined at the service by the Sophie Wessex, Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and the Queen’s grandchildren Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Lady Louise Windsor.

Eugenie was comforted by her dad Andrew as she broke down while looking at floral tributes to the Queen.

She had earlier placed her own flowers among the bouquets.

Her cousin Zara also wept as the royals made their way through the crowd of well-wishers gathered in the Scottish town.

As the royals turned to wave goodbye to the waiting crowds, Sophie - believed to have been the Queen's "favourite" - could also be seen looking emotional.

Andrew was earlier seen driving his family to Crathie Kirk church where he and his family attended a prayer service.

He waved to fans as he led a convoy of black Land Rover to the nearby chapel.

The Duke of York later released a statement saying: "We’ve been allowed one day, now we start the process of handing her on.”

Senior royals had all dashed to Queen's Scottish bolthole after doctors revealed they were "concerned" for her health.

Anne and Charles managed to make it to her bedside before she died.

The family pilgrimage today came as King Charles III was formally declared as Monarch at St James' Palace in London.

He was joined by Prince William and Queen Consort Camilla, who travelled back to England yesterday.

Prince Harry, who had also dashed to Balmoral, returned to Windsor on Friday morning.
