NASA Curiosity Rover photo shows ‘ruins of walled city once inhabited by aliens’ on Mars
THE ruins of an ancient walled city once inhabited by an alien civilisation have been spotted on the surface of Mars, conspiracy theorists claim.
A photo captured by NASA's Curiosity Rover is being interpreted as proof that intelligent life once roamed the dusty hills of the Red Planet.

The blurry image shows a rock formation which looks like a high wall running around a flat surface of land.
The structure is similar to that of cities you might have seen on Earth thousands of years ago.
Martine Grainey, an avid UFO seeker, was the first to spot the "walled city" on Mars and posted images on Facebook,

Conspiracy theorist website Alien Code has also analysed the image of the "ruins", and asks: "What if tens of millions of years ago, when Mars was a planet like Earth is today, an alien civilization flourished there, developed and created massive monuments, structures, temples and cities, just like we have done throughout Earth’s long history?"
The Ancient Code reporter reveals that in the last couple of years the number of images showing alleged structures on Mars has "quadrupled".
They say most of it comes down to pareidolia - when a person's brain makes them see familiar patterns or objects when looking at things such as rock and cloud formations.

The writer adds: "In fact, nearly every single image beamed back by NASA's rovers on Mars seems to show at least one particular 'object' which appears to be artificially carved or created.
"While most of these objects are the result of pareidolia, other findings cannot be dismissed so easily."
The image taken by NASA's Curiosity Rover comes as physicist Dr John Brandenburg claimed nuclear weapons were once used on Mars during a war between different planets.

Mr Brandenburg said: “Analysis of new images from Odyssey, MRO, and Mars Express orbiters now show substantial evidence of eroded archeological objects at these sites. Taken together, the data requires that the hypothesis of Mars as the site of an ancient planetary nuclear massacre, must now be considered.”
The NASA Curiosity Rover is a car-sized robotic exploring the Gale Crater on Mars.
He first landed on the Red Planet on August 6, 2012.
