Woman, 87, dies after cops rush to rural village as man, 57, arrested in ‘murder probe’

A MURDER investigation is underway after an 87-year-old woman died.

Police arrested a man, 57, at the scene in a rural village and he remains in custody.

The woman was airlifted to hospital from a property near Brecon, Powys, yesterday. She died earlier today.

Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Dyfed-Powys Police has launched a murder investigation near Brecon following the death of an 87-year-old woman.

"Officers were called to a property in the Llanfrynach area at around 9.25pm yesterday.

"The woman was airlifted to hospital but sadly died earlier today.

"Next of kin has been informed and the family is being supported by specialist officers.

"A 57-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He remains in police custody."
