Pioneering hi-tech kettle takes 11 HOURS to reach the boil
The future of household goods is here, and it's not that great
A man spent 11 hours trying to get his WIFI operated kettle to boil, just so he could make a cup of tea.
Mark Rittman of Hove began making his cup of tea on Tuesday morning at around 9am and didn't finish making it until 8pm.
The data specialist tweeted:
“Still haven't had a first cup of tea this morning, debugging the kettle and now iWifi base-station has reset. Boiling water in saucepan now.”
An hour later and the specialist tweeted that he still hadn't made a cup of tea.
Three hours in and Mr Rittman said:
"Three hours later and still no tea. Mandatory recalibration caused wifi base-station reset, now port-scanning network to find where kettle is now.”

He then said the kettle was "taking the piss".
Rittman later said he was having issues with pairing the kettle with his Amazon Echo, meaning it wasn't recognising his voice commands.
After 11 hours, Rittman said he was able to update the kettle and that it had started responding to voice control, but that he now had a problem with the lights in his home.
“Well the kettle is back online and responding to voice control, but now we're eating dinner in dark while lights download a firmware update," he tweeted.
After managing to turn the kettle on using WIFI he posted a video of him finally being able to make a brew.
