Users in the US started to get the boxes on Tuesday along with protective gloves, and a warning saying the phones could only be sent by ground in case they exploded in the air.

This is in response to one handset which was powered down on a flight and still started smoking.

The Royal Mail has refused to handle returns over safety fears.

, revealed the kit said it was forbidden to be sent on an aircraft.

The inner box of the packaging has a ceramic fiber lining which is a quarter-inch thick, which covers the entire interior.

Samsung has provided blue gloves so users who are sensitive to the fibers won't get a reaction.

An instruction sheet explained: "Supplied safety gloves should be worn throughout as some individuals might be sensitive to the ceramic fiber paper lining the Recovery Box."
