'YOU ARE NOT ALONE'

I was raped by former partner- I’m finally free of him and want to help others come forward

A WOMAN repeatedly raped by her ex-partner has bravely spoken out about her ordeal in the hope that other potential victims contact cops.

Christine McCamon, 35, waived her right to anonymity so perverted beast Robert ‘Boab’ Muir - who raped her multiple times over a period of six months - could be fully named and shamed.

Brute Muir, of Kilmarnock, was convicted by a jury at the High Court in Glasgow of two counts of rape after admitting the vile assaults in a series of text messages.

He was jailed for more than four years last week.

Brave Christine, who runs her own beauty business from her home in Kimarnock, built a timeline of events that catalogued the sustained and targeted harassment she experienced at the hand of her ex-partner - a move that helped snare him.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Christine said: “I run my salon from my house and he would force me to have sex with him when I had clients in, I had to cancel appointments because I was so ashamed and embarrassed by his behaviour.

“He wore me down until I was depressed and isolated me from my friends and family.

“He would then force me to have sex when I was ill in bed from the depression.

"I would say no and he would continue because I was weakened by him.

“I look back and I couldn’t believe this was happening to me.

"I kept saying no to him but he would persist until he got his way.

“He chose to rape me when I was at my most vulnerable but now he is in jail and I feel believed.”

Christine and Muir met in March 2018 and dated on and off for nearly three years with Christine always ending the relationship after he was caught messaging other women.

However, every time Christine tried to break up with him, he would pursue her more intensely than the last, turning up at her house and bombarding her with messages in an effort to control her.

The rapes began in October 2019 after Christine agreed to return to the relationship after months of persistence from Muir.

Muir raped Christine for the last time on her birthday just before lockdown hit in March 2020.

She was able to use the pandemic restrictions to prevent him getting into her home, finding her strength in the process: “The restrictions were a blessing in a way, for me something cracked and I was able to write it all down, I was so angry.

“By May 2020, he admitted he raped me in a text message before then threatening to kill himself multiple times that week.

“I called the police because I thought he was a risk to himself, but it was then the cops realised what he had done to me and they brought him in for questioning before they arrested him for rape.”

Last week, a high court jury came back and unanimously agreed on Muir’s guilt.

Christine thinks there are more women out there that beast Muir could have done this to and urges them to come forward to the police.

She adds: “I know he was messaging hundreds of women, transgender women as well and I found out he was sending these messages about what he wanted to do to them whilst he was was lying in bed beside me.

“The judge even said it was so rare for the result of a rape case to be so clear cut.
