IcelandAir launches party planning ‘buddy’ service that sees cabin crew plan your holiday

'Stop over Buddies' will plan party celebrations for free and trips to see the Northern Lights

CABIN crew will be planning tourists' holidays in a unique service.

IcelandAir has launched 'Stopover Buddy' offering their staff as local hosts.

They can share insider knowledge, plan celebrations and tips on saving cash.

Travellers can request a Buddy for free to help arrange a bespoke celebrations.

Birkir Hólm Guðnason, CEO at IcelandAir, said: “Travellers are seeking local, unique and personalised adventures in an experience economy.

"By bringing back our Stopover Buddy service focusing around celebrations, we are able to help passengers create unforgettable memories on an IcelandAir stopover through our Buddies’ local knowledge and connections.”

Trips could include watching the Northern Lights in secluded spot, trying out the 'Viking Clap' made famous at Euro 2016 or celebrating 'Beyond the Wall' with Game of Thrones expert.

Iceland is one of the main filming locations for the hit US show.

IcelandAir said a study of 11,000 holidaymakers that discovered more than half (51 per cent) of travellers are keen to mix with locals to make their stay more authentic.
