GUN TERROR

Watch as woman slips out of handcuffs and steals cop’s AR-15 before opening fire on police officer

THIS is the shocking moment a woman high on meth slipped out of her handcuffs and stole a cop's AR-15 before opening fire on the officer.

Cops said Rachel Zion Clay, 36, was detained in the back of the police car after she was found behaving strangely in an Oklahoma neighbourhood - but she wasn't being arrested.

Officers arrived at the scene last Friday for a welfare check after Clay was found crawling around and barking.

While handcuffed for her own safety, she managed to get her hands free and grabbed the cop's assault rifle on the back seat.

She opened fire on both the police officer and a passerby before barricading herself in the squad car for three hours.

Shocking dashcam footage from inside the car shows the moment Clay points the AR-15 out of the back window and pulls the trigger.

Grady County Undersheriff Gary Boggess said she fired around 10 rounds.

He told : "While in the back seat of a patrol car, she was able to get her wrist free from the handcuffs and the handcuffs were put on properly.

"There's several switches, one is a gun switch to unlock the gun lock and she found it, unlocked the gun lock, and was able to retrieve an AR-15 rifle.

"Then she was able to figure out how to put a round in it, put it on fire and she fired approximately 10 rounds at our deputies and a civilian."

Cops said the woman tested positive for methamphetamine after she finally surrendered.

She was taken into custody and held at the Grady County Jail.

Both the cop and the passerby suffered non-life threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital, according to authorities.

Boggess said his office is now making changes to protocols to make sure the incident doesn't happen again.
